Go Local Going Green

We recently had Shelter Architecture out to our office to teach us about housing and sustainability and the environment. It was super interesting and eye opening and made me think about my own home’s health and consumption.

Piper Anderson is an amazing “go to” should you want to know more about this top and suggestions to better your environment. Piper: 612-870-4081, piper@shelterarchitecture.com

A couple of terms that I learned from Piper that are interesting:

Resilience: Resilience describes the ability of a system (social, ecological or economic) to recover from and adapt to changes. Resilient buildings are designed to use sustainable materials for increased longevity; to withstand extreme weather brought on by climate change; and to have positive impacts on the environment.(https://gbdmagazine.com/resilientbuilding-
examples/)

Building Material Red List: The materials red list (commonly shortened to simply “the Red List”) is a compilation of harmful-to-humans chemicals and materials compiled by the International Living Future Institute (ILFI). Many designers now specify “Red List Free” products when sourcing materials for home renovations. (https://living-future.org/declare/declare-about/red-list/)

Shelter Architecture can work with you on any building project large or small!
